Hi my name is Tammy Keith and I am the proud owner of Horse Basics and Beyond. I offer Horse Training and Riding Lessons to all ages and levels. I have over 25 years experience riding, training and competing with horses. My passion and love of horses began at a very young age. Both my parents grew up on ranches and worked with horses their entire lives and passed on their knowledge and experience to me. My mom competed in barrel racing and taught riding lessons and my dad competed in rodeo. As well, I worked as a wrangler with a few guest ranches over the years giving many riding lessons and leading many trail rides for novice riders who wanted to get a taste of the cowgirl/cowboy lifestyle. I’ve also been involved in many aspects of riding, including gymkhana (multiple horse events) and rodeo, specifically barrel racing, breakaway roping and goat tying. I have also had some experience in jumping and dressage. I ride extensively on trails and currently compete in cattle sorting (sorting cattle in order by number), gymkhana and barrel racing. I have many clients of all ages taking riding lessons on my lesson horses or on their own horses. Clients range from the novice rider wanting to learn about horses for the first time to experienced riders wanting some pointers to improve their riding skills. Novice riding lessons consist of learning the basics of caring for a horse; including brushing, tacking up and untacking lesson horses and then how to ride. My horse training is a unique combination of groundwork, arena work and trail riding. I’ve trained and worked with a wide variety horses, all with their own distinct dispositions and personalities. For the 2010 year I will only be taking in training horses that are broke and maybe just need a refresher, conditioning or more time put on them in the arena or on the trail, as I am planning to start a family of my own in the near future. Sorry but I will not be taking any unbroke horses. I feel with my many years of experience and understanding of horses and involvement in competition that I can enhance the relationship between many horse and rider combinations.
